"What a win!"

GLENWOOD, MB
Thursday night result

Well this one lived up the the advance billing. In a rematch of last year’s controversial first round playoff matchup, the 3-1 Lube Kings faced off against the rival High Voltage. With an all hands on deck effort, the teams exchanged scoring chances early and often. Goalie Mich was unbeatable in the early going stopping several golden chances for the Voltage.

The game remained scoreless until the 6 minute mark of the second period when the opposition broke the stalemate with a nifty tic-tac-toe play to take the early lead. The Lube Kings responded with a goal of their own a few minutes later and eventually went ahead 3-1 on a powerful shot from the hash marks from Joel “Bazooka” Baetsen.

Fast forward now 2 Voltage goals, the second of which came with only 37 seconds left in the 3rd period. Now with mere seconds on the clock and the score tied at 3 , Dave Robin called a time out and told his line to “Just get me the puck”. Todd was definitely listening, because once the puck dropped, Dave somehow lead a 3 on 1 down the ice towards the Voltage net. Tic toc, tic toc.

He looked for a pass. Saw none. Just like on paper, he shot the puck into their keeper’s mask, stunning him just long enough for the puck to trickle off his shoulder and into the yawning cage behind him, sending the bench into a frenzy!

Lube Kings 4

Rough Night at the Glen

Glenwood, MB
Thursday night result

Well, it’s still early in the season…. I won’t sugar coat it: we got smoked 10-5 in a game where half of their shots seemed to register on the goal sheet.

Ryan Wood made a flashy Lube King debut last night registering a hooking penalty in the first 10 seconds of the game. He was later seen adjusting his foil in the penalty box… Young Wood would more than make up for his early indiscretion later in the second frame. With complete disregard for his own safety and well-being, Ryan laid out to push the puck past the keeper just before crashing heavily head first into the end boards. The on-site medical staff was happy to be waived off the ice once he started moving again.

FINAL SCORE
Lube Kings: 5
13 Guys and a Puck: 10

Balcaen, Dano, Ryan, Chris (2)

This past Sunday the Lube Kings hit the ice for the first regular season contest. The newly formed Ligers (lyh-gurgh)provided a good skate but fell in the end to the home side 5-4. 06-07 Season Wrap Up

Late Saturday Result
River Park South, MB

In what should have been the first of several playoff games following an intense regular season campaign , the Lube Kings had a sense of unfinished business as they greeted reporters following a 8-6 loss at the Dakota arena on Saturday night. “Cock sucker!” A dejected Fagundes was heard muttering under his breath while walking down the tunnel after the final whistle had blown.

The entire High Voltage roster clearly came to play Saturday night – ALL of them and then a few; the unofficial superstar count stood at 15 at press time…

The contest itself was an intense affair. Aided by special guest coaches Grant and Findlater the Lube Kings managed one of their best efforts of the season. It was definitely a team effort as 9 different skaters got points during the contest. Unfortunately for the home side the buzzer rang with the score clock showing 8-6 for the visiting High Voltage. Of note on the night were Rick Comeau’s 3 point performance (2g 1a) and Kelly Morris’s patented late arrival prior to contributing a goal and an assist of his own.

The loss capped off the Lube King’s 5th season at the Dakota CC. This year the club finished with a record of 13-14-4 with a total output(including playoff) of 145 goals while allowing 148.

The club is looking forward to icing another team next year, so enjoy the golf season and let’s not have anyone get hurt playing SOCCER or BASKETBALL this summer…

Playoff Picture Set

Gentlemen,

We’ve finished in 5th place. We’ll be playing the 11th seeded team.

***SATURDAY APRIL 14th @ 22:20 VS HIGH VOLTAGE***

This team has been stacked for the last few weeks so we need an all hands on deck turnout and effort Saturday. Not kidding. These guys played before us this week and in no way looked like a team that won only 3 out of their first 27 games…

If we win, the next games go as follow:
Wednesday 18th @ 22:10
Friday 20th @ 20:40
Saturday 21 @ 21:00

Balcaen: 2 MORE SLEEPS!

This guy’s a dad?!

Gentlemen,

I’m not even talking about the game this week-end.

On a very happy note, Goalie Mich and more specificaly lovely wife Kim gave birth to a bouncing baby girl this past Wednesday morning. Baby and mom are reported to be in fine form. Way to go Mich. If I had a budget I’d send some flowers…

With only 2 games left in the regular season before the single elimination playoff format we’re looking to be in good shape. Here’s hoping PC can make a comeback from a lower body injury suffered last week.

Next game is this Monday at 20:20 VS 13 Guys and a Puck.
